Welcome to AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, services, and any purchase of products from us.
By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd is an authorised distributor of VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ products in South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, and supplies a range of daylighting products and accessories.
2. Definitions
- “Company” refers to AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd.
- “Customer” refers to any person or entity purchasing products or using our services
- “Products” refers to products and accessories supplied by the Company, including VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ and other distributed brands
- “Website” refers to https://africanlux.co.za/
- “Order” refers to a confirmed request by a Customer to purchase products from the Company
3. Acceptance of Terms
By using our website or placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
4. Marketing Communication
By submitting an enquiry or contacting us through our website, you consent to being added to our marketing contact list. This includes receiving updates, newsletters, and promotional communications from us.
You may opt out or unsubscribe from these communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link included in our emails or by contacting us directly.
5. Products and Services
AfricanLux supplies a range of genuine daylighting products and accessories, including but not limited to:
- Roof windows and skylights
- Sun tunnels
- Blinds and shutters
- Flashings and installation accessories
Product descriptions, dimensions, and images are provided for reference and may vary slightly from the actual product.
6. Ordering Process
- Orders may be placed via our website, email, or by contacting our sales team directly
- All orders are subject to availability and confirmation
- A contract is only formed once we accept and confirm your order in writing
- We reserve the right to refuse any order at our discretion
7. Pricing and Payment
- All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT unless stated otherwise
- Delivery charges are calculated separately and shown at checkout or on the quotation
- Payment terms are 50% upon placing the order to secure it, and the remaining 50% must be paid in full before collection and/or dispatch, unless otherwise agreed in writing
- The accepted payment method is EFT, and the amount must reflect in our bank account
- Late payments may incur interest at 3% per month on the outstanding balance
8. Delivery and Risk
- Delivery lead times are estimates only and may vary depending on product availability, import schedules, freight carrier performance, customs clearance, weather conditions, and other circumstances beyond our control
- Risk of loss or damage passes to the Customer upon delivery or collection, as applicable
- Customers are responsible for inspecting all products immediately upon receipt
- Specific information regarding order processing, delivery timeframes, shipping charges, delivery areas, inspection requirements, and delivery limitations is set out in our Shipping Policy
- Customers should carefully review the Shipping Policy before placing an order
9. Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations
- Returns, refunds, damaged goods claims, and cancellations are governed by our Return and Refund Policy
- Customers are required to inspect all deliveries immediately upon receipt and comply with the notification requirements contained in the Return and Refund Policy
- Special-order, imported, custom-made, and non-stock products may not be eligible for return or refund
- No goods may be returned without prior written authorisation from AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd.
- By placing an order, Customers acknowledge and accept the terms of the Return and Refund Policy.
10. Product Liability and Defects
The following exclusions apply in line with manufacturer guidelines:
AfricanLux and/or its suppliers accept no liability for conditions including, but not limited to:
- Discoloration of parts not visible during general use
- Changes in colour or fading from sun, condensation, acid rain, salt, or corrosive conditions
- Cosmetic conditions, including fabric sagging, blind slat movement, or sealant changes
- Knots in wood
- Normal or expected reductions in product efficiency or technical values
- Natural material variations
- Blockages from ice, snow, twigs, or similar
- Minor glass imperfections (e.g. shadows, colour variation) that do not impair view
- Hardware corrosion
- Solar cell degradation
- Accidental damage, including glass or dome breakage
- Water penetration not caused by a VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ defect (e.g. ice damming)
- Faulty building design or construction
- Movement in adjoining structures
- Alterations to VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ products or use of non-approved components
- Extreme weather, lightning, or hail damage
- Use in high-humidity or poorly ventilated areas
- Use outside product design limitations
- Post-delivery processing (e.g. etching, sandblasting)
- Environmental factors (e.g. acid rain) causing glass/plastic damage or corrosion
- Condensation-related issues on roof windows or modular skylights
- Film applied to insulated glass units
- Any similar conditions, regardless of classification as a “defect”
Remedies:
- Where valid complaints arise within the liability period, VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ may at its discretion
- Deliver a replacement product or component free of charge, or
- Remedy the defect if feasible
- VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ does not cover costs for
- Dismantling of old products/components
- Processing or installation of replacements, or
- Any indirect or direct loss, cost, or damages beyond those expressly stated
Software Disclaimer:
- VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of its software, nor compatibility with future software or product versions
11. Warranties and General Liability
Products are covered by manufacturer warranties. AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd does not provide additional warranties beyond those offered by the manufacturer. We are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from improper installation, misuse, or failure to follow product guidelines.
12. Intellectual Property
All website content, including text, images, logos, and product data, is the property of AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd or its licensors.
VELUX & Altaterra RoofLITE+ and other brand names are registered trademarks used with permission. Unauthorized use is prohibited.
13. Privacy and Data Protection
AfricanLux Distributors (Pty) Ltd respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with applicable South African data protection legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”).
Information regarding how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect personal information is contained in our Privacy Policy.
By using our website, submitting enquiries, requesting quotations, placing orders, or otherwise engaging with us, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
Customers are encouraged to review the Privacy Policy regularly to remain informed of any updates
14. Compliance with Regulations
Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and applicable regulations during installation and use of products.
15. Amendments
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes. Please check our website periodically for updates.
Policy Documents

In the event of any conflict between these Terms and a specific policy, the provisions of the applicable policy shall prevail to the extent of the conflict.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts
17. Notices and Communications
All notices, instructions, requests, approvals, complaints, claims, variations, cancellations, or other communications relating to any quotation, order, supply, installation, warranty, or agreement with Africanlux shall be valid only if made in writing and transmitted by email to the responsible Africanlux sales representative or to such other email address as Africanlux may designate from time to time.
The Customer acknowledges and agrees that:
- Communications via WhatsApp, SMS, social media platforms, telephone calls, voice notes, instant messaging applications, or any other informal communication channels shall not constitute valid notice or communication for contractual purposes
- Africanlux shall not be bound by any instruction, agreement, amendment, cancellation, approval, or representation communicated through such informal channels
- The Customer bears the responsibility of ensuring that all communications requiring action, acknowledgement, or reliance are submitted by email and received by Africanlux
- In the event of any dispute regarding communication, only written email correspondence shall be admissible as evidence of a valid notice, instruction, agreement, or approval
- Africanlux reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to respond to communications received through informal channels without such response constituting acceptance of, or agreement to, any instruction, variation, claim, or contractual amendment
No amendment, waiver, variation, cancellation, or instruction shall be valid or binding unless confirmed in writing by email by an authorised representative of Africanlux.
18. Retention of Ownership and Risk
Notwithstanding delivery, installation, or incorporation of the Products into any building or structure, ownership of all Products supplied by Africanlux shall remain vested in Africanlux until payment in full of all amounts owing in respect of such Products has been received and cleared in Africanlux’s bank account.
The Customer acknowledges and agrees that:
- Risk in the Products shall pass to the Customer upon delivery to site, regardless of whether the Products have been installed
- Ownership of the Products shall remain with Africanlux until full payment has been made
- Installation of the Products shall not constitute transfer of ownership
- Africanlux shall be entitled, without prejudice to any other rights or remedies, to enter the Customer’s premises or the site where the Products are located and recover the Products in the event of non-payment
- The Customer shall ensure that the Products remain identifiable as the property of Africanlux until ownership passes
- Where the Products have been incorporated into a building or structure and payment remains outstanding, Africanlux reserves all rights available at law to recover the outstanding debt, together with any legal, collection, removal, reinstatement, and related costs incurred
The Customer shall adequately insure the Products against loss, theft, damage, or destruction from the date risk passes until ownership transfers.
